Isra University is conveniently located on National Highway, 5 km from Hyderabad City Center, and accessible from surrounding areas of Gudu and Jamshoro via Hyderabad bypass, and Latifabad, Mirpurkhas and Badin via channel bypass. The National Highway connects it to the north of the Sindh province. The campus is spread over 10 acres of land.

Isra University is an autonomous and privately owned institution legislated by the Isra University Act, 1997 [Sindh Act No. V of 1997] notified in the Sindh Government Gazette (Extra Ordinary) of September 27, 1997.

The Isra University Act assigns the principal executive and academic authority to the Vice Chancellor, and the board of governors who exercise general supervision over the affairs and management of the University. The Deans of faculties as well as several advisory and standing committees that include members from public and private sectors assist the Vice Chancellor in discharge of his duties..
